Wedding Reception

A work friend of my husband's is getting remarried. This is actually 2nd and 3rd marriages on both sides. One of the guests at the wedding reception will be a woman with whom my husband had an affair with a few years ago.
I think it is appalling that the wedding couple would actually send invites to both parties since they are aware of the situation. However, since they did I believe it is totally unacceptable that my husband would suggest that we actually attend. And I DO NOT feel comfortable with my husband attending alone.
My husband has worked with the wife for years but doesn't do anything outside of work with the couple so the term "friend" is rather loose by most interpretations.
What are your thoughts?
