What happened to close your mouth when you chew

I have a colleague that seemed to lack the basic manner training of chewing with your mouth closed. Waiting until your mouth is empty to speak, or even using a napkin to cover his mouth should he need to speak. Everyone in our office avoids having to sit across from him when eating. We don't want to take him anywhere with prospective clients. How do we teach this almost 30 year old to chew with his mouth closed. Hints do not seem to work.
