As the hostess of the shower, you know what you can comfortably host. If host's and guest of honor's visions of the party are drastically different, host should gently say to mom-to-be,

"I'm sorry, but I can't possibly host so big a shower. My home will comfortably hold 30. May I have your list by next Friday so I can send out the invitations?"

If the mom-to-be persists, gently suggest that the shower should be elsewhere, as you will be unable to give her the party she obviously wants.
