Invited to Bridal Shower But Not Wedding

by Mrs C.B.
(Seattle)

First time writing in for anything!

I was invited to a bridal shower but did not receive an invitation to the wedding.

A week before the wedding, I ran into the mother of the bride in a store and ask her how the wedding plans were coming along. she said fine and didn't mention anything else.

There were only 100 or so invited and the shower was a few months before. Should I not have expected an invitation?

I went to a baby shower and gave a gift. The couple had a baby but did not send an announcement. Do I need to send a baby gift? They are casual friends but my husband thinks I should.

The Right to Give A Gift (or not)
by: Eunice

Hmmm. You should have been invited to the wedding if you have been invited to the bridal shower. But oh well, maybe it was better that way - think of it as saving yourself the hassle of buying another gift?

Regarding the baby gift after the baby is born, I believe it is up to you. Of course gifts are always welcomed but they should not be expected from the recipient. Neither should they be solicited for.

If that couple are close friends, why not send a gift despite not having sent a baby announcement? If not, you can just pay compliments the next time she shows you their newborn's baby photos.
