Taking Baby to Wedding Reception
by: Former Infant Mom

At first thought taking to the reception seems okay, HOWEVER, do remember that if your baby is a screamer that that makes everyone uncomfortable - of course no one will say a word - that w/b the first hint. Also, the presumption is that you are ever attentive and will deal with any very loud crying quickly, NOT whip out a breast (if breast fed baby - better to bring two bottles, one 2-3 hour interval won't hurt baby). But,if insist then very discreetly doing so under a blanket and keeping covered throughout, no diaper changing at the table, etc. So why not just get a sitter and relax/enjoy the evening? Besides, do you really want to expose your baby to loud alchoholic behavior, dancing, loud music, smoking, and possible mishaps when people over-imbibe as some always do especially at receptions? Sorry mooms - I really do not mean to offend - as a former mom, all these things are reality.Too, now that I'm older/wiser, it is amazing how many baby-intolerant adults are out there so why expose yourself and baby to that too?
