How do you handle an uninvited guest?

A 47 yr old friend of my 89 year old mom invited herself to my home for my birthday when my mother was visiting from out of town- so she could see my mom. I babysat for this woman when she was small and since returning to my home state she has been in my life.

My mother does not live near me and never has, so the time we get 1-1 is precious and special.

If I told this woman not to come I would be the bad guy. So I let it ride and had a horrid birthday. All my plans went out the window and this woman took over the whole 3 days.

It tainted my visit with my mom and has created a very uncomfortable situation.

If I said don't come I would have been the bad guy and appeared to be keeping this woman from visiting my mom.

How should a situation like this be handled?
