A good and strong relationship requires honesty. Tell the truth. Next time they talk about going to the hairdresser, mention (gently) trying something different and say that you don't think the current style is flattering. Hopefully they will take the hint, but be prepared to defend your prosition. If you really love this person, they will be honest, even if it stings them in the begining.

Sounds like you need to break up. I think if you are really in love with the person, these things would not annoy you as much as they sound like they do.
