Guests requested by parents

Is it etiquette for the mother of the bride to invite guests to her daughter's wedding? My daughter does not want to invite my 2 close friends even though they are very important to me, and I am also giving a large sum towards her wedding.

No. This is your daughter's day. She should have the final say in the guest list. That would be like her making you invite two of her friends to an important event of yours.

I believe it is acceptable for you to invite your two closest friends. They were your support as you raised your daughter. I should think that your daughter would understand.
