A suggestion... NEW
by: Nammie

I think it would be a great idea to get a gallery of elegant, easily wearable outfits. I find myself wondering what you wear, Eunice, and I'd love to see some of your outfits! We can also post ours if we want to, and/or images we've collected of models, celebrities, etc. with elegant clothes. This will help us to get the idea of what to look for :]

Rely on my personal guidelines rather than on a particular fashion designer
by: Eunice

This is a tough question!

For my personal taste, no designer in the world has consistently churned out classy designs season after season.

I have a couple of guidelines which I follow when it comes to choosing elegant or tasteful (and classy) clothes:

1) A good fit (for your body type)
2) Well made
3) Made of good fabric
4) Neat, without creases, spots or dangling threads
5) Hidden (or invisible) stitching and zips
6) Colour suitable for your skin tone.
7) Classic designs - designs that will never go out of style OR simple, clean lines that are not too fussy.
8) Modest but modern. However this rule can be broken as long as it is tastefully done.
9) with necklines, hemlines that is in current fashion

It doesn't really matter who the fashion designer is or what brand the clothes are. I shop from a variety of places from department stores, niche boutiques, the airport, on-line and in markets. I feel confident choosing my own clothes as I'll admit that I had quite a few years of practice and making mistakes!

But that's just me - some people might think what I love to wear is 'boring' because I choose to remain "classic, but not out of fashion". I don't think I look dated either, just that I won't be the first one in mind if describing a fashionable woman. But that's the way I like it. I don't want to give off that vibe or be associated with fashion/fashionable/trendsetter/trendy/designer so that works perfect for me!

Hope that answers your question (sort of?)

Thank you, and all the best!

- Eunice
