Elegant Letters, Issue #001 -- Happy New Year!
January 21, 2010

Warmest greetings! Hello and welcome to my 2nd edition of Elegant Letters! I know it took awhile but I've got valid reasons.

First of all, I got married! It is amazing that by God's grace, we pulled off a wedding for 400 people and then a private wedding dinner party for 140 IN SIX WEEKS. I will be enjoying blogging about that experience when the photos come out.

Second of all, my wedding was a personal deadline on my own journey to elegance and refinement. I spent several weeks and even months, correcting my bad habits of posture, murmurings, mumblings, bad pronunciation and worked on strengthening my strengths of creativity, design, writing, decorating, planning etc.

I've also prepared myself internally, emotionally, spiritually to be the bride and person I want to be. Obviously, no one really becomes perfect, but most importantly it is because you want to, you desire to become better and that YOU ENJOY the process. It is weird to some of my friends that I actually look forward to the honing process.

I'm reviewing and refining my material and can't wait to share with you wonderful ladies. Thank you so much for your encouragement and private emails of success stories. Do share it with everyone under the testimonials page. It will really encourage others.

How was your new year for you? Every year I would spend some time reflecting and set new goals or inspire a vision for myself and my family. I know writing new year resolutions is cliche and that is true, there is too much pressure sometimes. I went to church and my pastor said that this year will be a year of rest.

I was completely inspired by that and decided to make it my own. Why? You know everything you read out there in this world today encourages you to be a go-getter, to work harder, smarter etc etc. This on the other hand, inspires a sense of calmness, and 'unhurriedness'.

Have you ever seen an elegant person panicking, hurrying, rushing, or speaking really fast?

Never. An elegant woman is always poised, in control of herself and her emotions, never in a hurry, never in a rush. That will be my mantra for the year.

I remember writing on my facebook wall,

"Happy new year! This will be a year of restful increase. Let us not be hurried in all our ways...I'm back, bit by bit. Love, Eunice

If you're new here for the first time, a warm welcome to you! If you don't know where to start, I'll always recommend my favourite quote on elegance, “A truly elegant taste is generally accompanied with excellency of heart.”

Start with the heart.
