90 year old grandmother taken to loud bar

The story is my sister had a 21st birthday dinner and drinks planned for her son(my nephew) at a local bar with food and drinks. My aunt and grandmother called to find out what my sister had planned. My aunt who has been living with my grandmother for 30 plus years, and my grandmother who is 90 years old told my sister that they may stop by. My sister had a plan if they did call to tell them not to come because the bar they go to has smoking and just happened to have a band that night.

They told my sister they would call the day before and confirm, which they mostly never do. My nephews birthday comes and my sister gets a call that my aunt and grandmother are outside.

My sister tells them that she is on her way to the bar and that they can come if they want. They all ened up going since they had driving an hour to see my nephew which is my grandmothers great grandson. My poor 90 year old grandmother had to roll up tissue and put it in her ears because of the loud band, and left after an hour.

I told my sister that the proper thing to do would have been to go around the corner to the local Italian restaurant and have a quick dinner with my nephew then go out for the evening. She disagrees because they never called to confirm and it was my nephews 21st. I think that if your the only granparent alive and over 90 years old, anytime you just "show up" you should be accomendated. Please let me know your opinion
